Press Release Summary: Morph Labs brings cloud computing to the masses and enables companies to rapidly deploy new applications with scalability, security and manageability.
Press Release Body: Web 2.0 Expo – New York – NY – September 16, 2008 – Morph Labs, a leading provider of Platform as a Service (PaaS) for Web applications, today announced Morph AppCloud, an on-demand application platform that enables companies to take advantage of cloud computing without the burden of configuration, setup and ongoing management.
Morph AppCloud enables companies to quickly define their own cloud computing environment. It standardizes the Web application environment with a combination of open source technologies and industry best practices. By bringing together people, process automation and technology into a comprehensive solution, the new offering is designed for IT departments and independent software vendors (ISVs).
Each Morph AppCloud is a dedicated cluster of virtual servers that are automatically provisioned, configured and managed on behalf of each customer. Morph AppCloud provides the flexibility needed by organizations to customize their Web application environment to meet their growing application needs.
The Morph environment automatically brings together virtual servers configured with a Linux operating system, open source Web stacks, databases, load balancers and application management tools all in a high availability environment with continuous backups and full-time monitoring.
Morph AppCloud eliminates the typical cloud issues that concern companies. Morph AppCloud enables IT departments to quickly deploy internal and external applications into an environment that includes high availability, disaster recovery, scalability, monitoring, security and ongoing systems management. By relying on Morph AppCloud as the application platform, companies are able to focus resources on developing leading edge technology. Morph AppCloud leverages Amazon Web Services including Amazon EC2 for virtual servers as well as Amazon S3 for storage.
“Amazon Web Services provide highly reliable and elastic computing and storage resources, creating a compelling, cost-effective deployment alternative,” said Steve Rabuchin, Director of Developer Relations and Business Development for Amazon Web Services. “Users of the Morph AppCloud will be supported by the same technology infrastructure that Amazon.com uses.”
Morph AppCloud is provisioned on-demand through the Morph Labs Web interface. Users start with a drag and drop cloud designer to choose the components they require for their specific environment. With the click of a button, the user is able to immediately deploy their own environment in the cloud. Upon deployment, their cloud is provisioned, configured and dozens of technologies are enabled to form a comprehensive end to end environment for the deployment, delivery and management of Web applications.
David Abramowski, CEO of Morph Labs said, “Businesses are starting to understand the huge innovation value and cost savings of cloud computing. By creating a company-specific Morph AppCloud for Web applications, IT departments and ISVs can stage environments, test applications, and run collaboration applications and third party products while freeing up valuable resources and personnel. Innovation is encouraged as technical capacity and capabilities can be increased on the spot without investment in training, software licenses, or costly infrastructure.”
Abramowski concluded, “Cloud computing reflects a major shift and opportunity for any business that uses technology to maintain a competitive edge. It’s changing the game plan.”
